History buffs and those who are lucky enough to have seen Hamilton know that Alexander Hamilton is the first prominent US politician to have had a sex scandal. And he fessed up to it all in what is commonly known as the Reynolds Pamphlet.
Hamilton had an affair with Maria Reynolds that came to light after her husband found out and blackmailed Hamilton. Other government officials learned about what happened and feared Hamilton had embezzled money to pay the Reynolds off, which was then leaked to the newspaper. To preserve his reputation, Hamilton, who was Treasury Secretary, published a whopping 98-page pamphlet, going into explicit detail about his affair. DAMN.
